The article discusses the increasing pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S. and the various measures to curb the trend. Topics include a comparison of maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in the U.S. in 2019 and 2020, some of the challenges in data collecting, factors that contributed to the decline in U.S. maternal mortality during the 20th-century such as the advent of antibiotics, the varying causes of maternal mortality, and data on MMR from 1920-2020 and timeline of associated interventions made. |
