Polyaniline films modified by carboxylic acid dopents have been formed by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization using ammonium persulfate as an oxidizing agent and investigated for NH3 gas sensor. We demonstrate that butyric acid-doped polyaniline (BPANI) film is highly selective to NH3 with high selectivity (513% at 100 ppm), fast response time (8.94 s). Furthermore, good reproducibility was also observed at 100 ppm. The room-temperature functioning of the sensor is critical, which facilitate low-power operation and also enhances the life time of the sensor. The results indicate that the carboxylic acid-doped polyaniline films are promising for NH3 gas detection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
