Sarah sets her sights on Driss because his family is thought to be "as rich as the King", thus indicating his belonging to the narrow, extremely wealthy, and exclusive category comprising Moroccan elites in the 1990s. With simple words and perennial themes - love, power, money, domination - Abigail Assor's first novel explores the spatial, economic, and social hierarchies that structure 1990s Casablanca.
