Abstrakt: Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a biodegradable, non‐toxic, synthetic solvent swollen polymer. It is soluble in different polar solvents like water (H2O), N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Spectroscopic observations show the coexistence of solvent and polymeric matrix upto high temperature (∼200 °C). The solvents are remained trapped inside the matrix. The XRD study shows a peculiar phase changing phenomenon after 125 °C. A very beautiful fish scale like surface morphology appears in the SEM images of the membrane. The FTIR and Laser Raman spectroscopy support the coexistence of solvent and polymer in the membrane. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
