Reports on the finding that lenses dissected from 12-day embryonic chicks, then incubated with rubella virus for varying periods of time, have a shorter metabolic life in organ culture than those treated with uninfected RK13 cell extracts. Isolation of the virus from the supernatant culture media 48 hours after the removal of the origina virus inoculum; Toxicity of the extracts of rubella-infected RK13 cells from which rubella virus had been eliminated, to the lens. |
