Abstrakt: This article attempts to explore whether patient's expectations of physiotherapy affect treatment outcome. Little or no research has been conducted to explore patients' expectations of physiotherapy. The article authors investigate the relationship between patients' expectations of benefit and other relevant variables prior to physiotherapy. The exploratory study mentioned here in the article shows that there are many variables associated with patients' expectations of benefit from physiotherapy. Physiotherapists need to be aware that each patient presents with a variety of characteristics that may impact on their expectation of benefit, since this may affect the outcome of treatment.
