Adsorption isotherms studies of methyl orange on cross-linked chitosan Schiff base/TiO2 nano composite.

Abstrakt: A cross-linked chitosan Schiff base (CCSB-TiO2) has been synthesized by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with chitosan followed by addition of TiO2 NPs and then cross-linking with glutaraldehyde, the synthesized polymer was characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The adsorption process of methyl orange (MO) dye on the new material was studied. Different concentrations (50 mL of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 ppm) were used. The maximum removal percentage and adsorption capacity were recorded with 250 ppm concentration, their values were 99.21% and 124.01 mg/g respectively. The equilibrium data were fitted to different adsorption isotherm models, the best fit was Freundlich model (R2 value 0.9947). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
