Students with disabilities may experience barriers to curriculum when inaccessible apps are incorporated into the classroom. To support physical educators, this report offers guidance on identifying (section I) and using (section II) app accessibility features within physical education classrooms. Example applications and resources are shared that will empower educators to evaluate and effectively integrate accessible apps within their own practice. A checklist and illustrative examples, FlipGrid & Padlet, provide physical educators with a practical approach to integrating apps that are high in accessibility features (e.g., closed captioning, alternative text for images, screen reader compatibility), create inclusive learning spaces (e.g., multi-modal participation options), and reduce barriers to curriculum and learning.
