The study aims to estimate cost-return of large-scale shrimp farms affected by the EHP pathogen. A shrimp farm from East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh was selected for the case study. The farm was affected by the EHP pathogen during the second half of 2018. The cost-returns of the shrimp farm were calculated and the BCR of the shrimp farm for the year 2018 is found as 1.17, which shows farms affected with EHP disease can reap profits in a year with the loss incurred from EHP disease. This study reveals that shrimp farmers can sustain in farming, if the frequency of disease outbreaks (EHP) is once in a year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
