The article focuses on N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (NAG), a naturally occurring amino-monosaccharide and the main monomeric unit of the homogenous polysaccharide chitin, and its cosmetic benefits. Topics include NAG is a hydrophilic molecule and is water-soluble, which impacts its ability to be effectively delivered into the skin; and effects of both in vitro and in vivo, of an ingredient that can smooth and soothe the skin while visibly targeting the hallmarks of UV-induced photoaging. |
