The industrial world is becoming competitive and competitive multiple times. Therefore, industries should become world-class by performing excellence in manufacturing goods and should provide excellence n services. Modern manufacturing organizations need to be supported by both effective and efficient maintenance to be successful. One approach to improving the performance of maintenance activities is implementing and developing a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategy. TPM is a unique Japanese philosophy, which has been developed based on productive maintenance concepts and methodologies. Strategies and Objectives are the main factors that determine the final efficiency of the company. Hence, this aspect needs to be taken into consideration by the companies. TPM and its implementation must form a part of the strategies being considered. It provides long-term benefits to any organization. Effective communication before and during the TPM implementation process is one of the most important aspects of the process. Lack of effective communication will waste productive hours and resources that otherwise could be employed effectively elsewhere. The current paper aims to study the methods adopted by automobile companies for the implementation of TPM. The paper also aims at identifying challenges faced by automobile manufacturers in the implementation of TPM. The study has considered literature review as well as primary data for the analysis. Objective of Study: To study methods adopted faced in the implementation of TPM in the automotive industry. To study challenges faced in the implementation of TPM in the automotive industry.
