Abstrakt: The article informs that Allegheny Mountain Dusky Salamander or Desmognathus ochrophaeus, is typically associated with small streams, springs, and moist woodlands. However, a recent study found that the species is also abundant in isolated, vernal pool-type wetlands at higher elevations in the central Appalachians, suggesting a new key habitat feature. The salamanders were heavily clustered within and near the wetlands, with few present in surrounding forests.
