'No Apologies' is not an academic book and therefore does not require an academic review. The book is a cri de coeur, in fact, and therefore deserves a response that is at least partly both subjective and emotional. With this in mind, I must begin by acknowledging my profound ambivalence over what this book says. On one hand, I agree with Esolen's general thesis.
