Diagnosis: Black walnut staining DISCUSSION Located mostly in the central and eastern United States, the black walnut ( I Juglans nigra i ) is a valuable hardwood timber tree that grows individually or in small, scattered clusters. The asymptomatic brown and black patches in this condition are well-demarcated and tend to have scale.[8] Although similar in presentation and location to our patient's black walnut stain, this diagnosis was excluded due to the acute onset, patchy appearance, and occurrence in a child living in a colder climate.
