Abstrakt: Functioning of remotely-piloted (RP) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in extreme, poorly structured environments often calls for immediate intervention in order to prevent collisions with artificial or natural objects. Assessment of human reliability in complicated situations needs profession-relevant tests of spatial orientation particularly important for operators of unmanned vehicles. The immersive virtual environments dominate in development of remote-control technologies. The study analyzes approaches used in cognitive sciences to explore imagination of 2D and 3D virtual scenes and to get insight into the psychological aspects of spatial orientation. Psychological models can be employed in selection and setting work regulations for RP UAV's operators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
