An essay is presented which argues that the editing of the little magazine "dodgems" by editor and poet Eileen Myles is shaped by a consideration of how humor functions in group dynamics. Topics include a description of humor in Myles' writing, thoughts on her editorial practices, the humorous aggression clearly emphasized on the cover of the first issue of the magazine published in 1977, and the broadness of humor employed by different writers associated with the New York Schools. |
