Kimche was one of the foremost secret emissaries in service of the State of Israel at a time when backchannel diplomacy was the only way forward to a more peaceful future. Each member communicated potential solutions to their respective political leaders, and Kimche conveyed the workings of the group to the Jewish leaders in Israel and the United States. Recent behind-the-scenes developments between Israel and Arab countries in the Middle East once again demonstrate the way in which diplomacy and discreetly conducted negotiations have contributed to relations between Israel and its neighbors. Kimche quickly came to the conclusion that the hardline ideology of the Ayatollahs precluded Israel from retaining its position in Iran.[15] This was a great loss for Israeli intelligence.
