Abstrakt: An Indonesia soil actinomycete, Streptomyces sp. BioMCC-a.T.3335 was cultured to find compounds that showing inhibitory activity against Plasmodium falciparum cell proliferation. The properties of active compounds in the extract were examined by conducting a preliminary extraction test (PET). Extraction and purification method of active compounds was developed based on PET result. We identified two active compounds, cosmomycin A (1) and B (2), from the extract as active compounds. Cosmomycin A inhibited the proliferation of P. falciparum 3D7 cell in vitro (IC50=2.8 nM). To our best knowledge, 1 and 2 have never been reported as anti-malarial agents before.
