Abstrakt: Sir, The existence of gas in the extraluminal space of the bowels is recognized as pneumatosis intestinalis.[[1]],[[2]] The mechanism underlying pneumatosis intestinalis may involve multiple factors, including pulmonary, mechanical, and bacterial causes, although mucosal break is associated with all mechanisms.[[1]],[[2]] The bacterial concept postulates that gas-forming bacteria, such as I Escherichia coli i and I Clostridia i species, can infect the intraluminal compartments.[[1]],[[2]] While tumor lysis syndrome is a malignant emergency defined by hyperuricemia, hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, and/or hypocalcemia due to massive tumor cell turnover.[[3]],[[4]] Tumor lysis syndrome commonly develops when patients with hematologic cancer have been started on chemotherapy; however, it can also occur spontaneously.[[3]] Herein, we report a case of fulminant pneumatosis intestinalis resembling tumor lysis syndrome. He ultimately died of hyperkalemia induced by pneumatosis intestinalis, resembling tumor lysis syndrome. [Extracted from the article]
