I Although the Medinas understood Allegra had a disability and was deemed eligible for special education services, they had seen her accomplish much in the ECI program, and now that Allegra was ready to transition to preschool, they felt excited but also worried. Mr. Luis suggested working on goal setting so Allegra could experience success, then later they could meet again and talk about how to support Allegra in regulating her emotions. The Medinas told the teachers they were going to ask the IEP team to allow Allegra to attend resource classes instead of general education or for a one-to-one aide to accompany Allegra in seventh grade. With their permission, Mr. Luis set up a meeting to allow Allegra to meet her teacher, Mrs. Grace, and assure Allegra's parents the classroom will be accessible for Allegra.
