The article addresses the topic of software updates and whether they protect against computer security threats or provide a conduit through which attacks can occur. It discusses Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) which target specific individuals and companies but not necessarily through software vulnerabilities. Industry best practices promoted by software vendors to always update software provides minimal benefits, the article suggests.. |
