Phase equilibria at 25°C in the MAn2–NaHCOO–H2O systems, where М = Mg, Sr, or Ba and An = Cl– or , were investigated, and a potential possibility for the conversional preparation of alkaline-earth metal formates by reacting alkaline-earth chlorides or nitrates and sodium formate was shown. An alkaline-earth metal formate crystallization area appears in all of those systems in addition to the crystallization fields of the precursor salts, indicating that the MAn2–NaHCOO–H2O systems are unstable diagonals of the Na+,M2+||HCOO–,An––H2O quaternary reciprocal systems. Magnesium formate, strontium formate, and barium chloride crystallize in dihydrates, while barium and sodium formates and strontium and barium nitrates crystallize in anhydrous salts. Magnesium chloride, strontium chloride, and magnesium nitrate occur in an equilibrium solid phase as hexahydrates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
