The increased competition by an expanding number of open-access journals, particularly in basic and translational sciences, has eroded I JBMR i submission volume, though it has not affected the quality of I JBMR i content. Since its founding, I JBMR i has served not only as a platform for publishing research data but also as a revenue stream for ASBMR that reinvests all profits from publications to further its mission and support its members. We have expanded the gender and geographical diversity of our editorial team and editorial board; researchers from more than 30 countries now submit their work to I JBMR i and participate in the peer-review process as editorial board members or reviewers, making I JBMR i a truly global journal.
