Hybrid surface hardening consisting of quenching with inductive heating by high-frequency current and subsequent ultrasonic surface plastic deformation is considered. Its influence on the structure and properties of structural steel is investigated. In comparison with surface quenching, the microhardness of the surface layer is increased by a factor of 1.5 and the wear resistance by a factor of 3–6, while the compressive stress is increased by a factor of 1.6. Optimal ultrasound treatment conditions are proposed, ensuring the required surface roughness and hardening. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
