Formulation of mathematical model for transient belt stretch for full load starting of belt conveyor system.

Abstrakt: Belt is main component of belt conveyor. Main reason of belt failure is excessive stretch occurs during starting of the system. In this paper, dynamic belt model is simulated with Lagrange's approach and stretch variation analysed for transient period. A mathematical model is formulated for transient picks of stretch in the belt while full load starting process of belt conveyor. Five different belt conveyors data is used for modelling. A relation established between belt stretch value and thirty-eight independent input variables which includes; geometrical, material and process parameters of belt conveyor system. Mathematical model is established by multivariable regression modelling technique. Model found 93.3% reliable for the simulated results. Validation of proposed model carried out by artificial neural network technique, and correlation of 0.9793 found with ANN predictions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
