Analysis on potential of forage utilization of main crop straw resources in Qinghai Province.

Abstrakt: The study was to provide reference for the rational utilization of straw resources in Qinghai Province, and systematically analyzed the feed utilization potential of local main crop straw resources. The results showed that from 2015 to 2021, the main crops in Qinghai Province could collect 1 660 800~1 723 000 t of straw, produced 61 500~68 300 t of crude protein (CP) and 948.73~984.16 GJ of metabolic energy (ME). The livestock carrying capacity of available straw was 3 421 200~3 049 300 sheep units, the livestock carrying capacity of digestible crude protein (DCP) was 989 800~ 1 098 700 sheep units, the livestock carrying capacity of ME was 3 101 800~3 217 600 sheep units, the indirect food saving was 1 728 200~1 793 200 t, and the potential of straw meat production was 87 300~90 600 t. In 2020, the amount of grain saved by straw in Qinghai Province was equivalent to 435 500 hm² of wheat planting area increased that year, the meat output of livestock raised with straw accounted for 26.79% of total output of beef and mutton in that year. The study indicates that the straw resources in Qinghai Province have the potential of feed utilization, which can provide material resource for the construction of Qinghai green organic agricultural and livestock products export place.
