Abstrakt: Report on Women's Activities War Savings Staff War Finance Committee United States Treasury Department Women's Division February 6, 1942 January 26, 1946 (Photos were added to this report by the author) When you take a group of 200,000 inexperienced women, plunge them into the greatest financial business in the history of this Nation-willing to serve without pay, willing to work endless hours, willing to take on large jobs and little jobs-that's history-making news! Held at the Metropolitan Theater in Seattle, with a packed house which included women chairmen from 18 surrounding counties, the women's meeting finally took the name "Women's War Savings League of the State of Washington." It has been on the air each week, opening with: the story of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the English poet, brought to you by the Women's Division of the U.S. Treasury [and] the Women's War Savings League of the State of Washington for your relaxation and enjoyment, to remind you to do your part in the struggle for freedom and to "BUY BONDS." Also outstanding is the U.S. Treasury official seal embroidered on a circle, in gold bullion, originated by Mrs. Benjamin C. [Elizabeth] Grosscup, King County Insignia chairman, and authorized as the official identification for Treasury workers throughout Washington State. [Extracted from the article]
