Abstrakt: The article discusses the worsening issue of drug addiction in the U.S. and how the drug courts are allegedly contributing to the problem by unintentionally allowing drug addicts increased access to drug abuse drugs in their bid to address the opioid epidemic in the country. Also cited are how the judiciary is struggling to reconcile criminality with a disease model of addiction, and the harm-reduction recovery programs that rely on treatments like behavioral therapy.
