Abstrakt: Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand is the largest power producer in Thailand, owning and operating plants at 45 sites across the country. With the forthcoming global climate crisis, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is necessary for reducing carbon dioxide emissions. In this work, a laboratory-scale, amine-based CO2 absorption and stripping setup was assembled. Its performance test was carried out using monoethanolamine at 30% concentration handling simulated flue gas conditions like those from the Mae Moh coal-fired power plant for a range of lean CO2 loadings. The test results of the carbon absorption experiment obtained were about 96.0 – 97.1 % capture efficiency. After capturing process, the rich solvent was fed to the stripper for regenerating CO2. It was found that regeneration energy of 5.4 – 7.2 MJ/kg CO2 was needed at the same lean CO2 loading. The setup seemed to be useful for practicing engineers to carry out further studies and gain experience with a laboratory CCS system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
