Abstrakt: This article reports that when lymphocytes from tumor antigen-infected sheep are cultured with tumour material they produce a factor presumably MIF, which inhibits the migration of normal macrophages as represented by peritoneal exudate cells. The production of MIF correlates with the development of lymphocytosis in injected animals. The macrophage migration inhibition test is generally recognized as an indicator of cell-mediated immunity. That lymphokine production by sensitized lymphocytes in antigen-specific has been shown for bacteria products, protein and carbohydrates.
