The study comprises an investigation into the relationship between weave parameters and material on the air permeability properties of fabrics meant for apparel outerwear. The commercial sampler, although might have been produced from different weaves, were found to be dissimilar in most respects. Comparison of fabrics differing in almost every structural parameter is at best difficult. Hence, work is reported on samples to study the effect of weave structures and material on the air permeability properties of fabrics so that the results of the study are precise and systematic. The fabric samples were produced with the weaves comprised of plain, warp rib, matt, twill, herringbone, satin and crepe. It was found that plain weave structure had the less air permeability and crepe weave structure had the less air resistance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
