The management of inventory is an important part of a retailer's market, especially when dealing with deteriorating products with a finite shelf-life in order to minimize the total cost of inventory and make market policies. Replacement for expired products is an effective policy through which retailers can restore the lost products with zero purchase cost. Although, in the real world, the complete replacement of the expired products is not entertained by the manufacturer. In such a situation partial replacement can save the retailer to maintain the demand of the customer. In this paper, a sustainable retailer's inventory model is proposed for deteriorating items with variable shelf-life. The model is developed to studyand investigate the partial replacement policywith a non-zero replacement period. Numerical illustrations are provided to validate the model along with sensitivity analysis and managerial insights. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
