Abstrakt: We report a 21‐year‐old Tennessee walking horse mare afflicted with a multicentric T‐cell lymphoma. A T‐cell‐rich, B‐cell lymphoma had been removed from the mare's left upper eyelid 4 years earlier. The owner reported that the mare had a poor appetite, difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing while eating. Initial physical examination revealed no abnormalities. Complete blood count and serum biochemical analyses revealed lymphopenia, anaemia and elevated serum globulins. A mass arising from the base of the tongue was found and determined to be a T‐cell lymphoma by histologic and immunohistochemical examination. The mare was anorexic during hospitalisation, showed signs of kidney failure, suffered severe weight loss and was consequently euthanased. During postmortem examination, a second mass, confirmed by immunohistochemical examination to be also a T‐cell lymphoma, was found arising from the abdominal surface of the diaphragm. Early diagnosis of T‐cell lymphoma is difficult, because affected horses display a wide variety of clinical signs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
