The present research was conducted to investigate the effect of supplementation of polyherbal mixture during ante and postpartum period on reproduction performances of Sahiwal cows. The selected cows from LRC, NDRI herd were divided into two group’s viz. control and treatment group. 1st group (T0) (control group) and was fed as per ICAR feeding standard 2013. The treatment group (T1) was feed as per ICAR standard along with the Poly-herbal supplementation. A Poly Herbal Mixture containing 80 g Angelica sinensis, 50 g Ficusracemosa, 20 g each of Withania somnifera, Zingiber officinale, Trachyspermum ammi was fed with concentrate mixture. The Poly-herbal supplementation was done from 3 days prepartum to 21 days postpartum in cows. The polyherbal mixture supplementation has resulted in improved reproductive performance by decreasing the incidence of retention of placenta, decreasing the service period, increasing the conception rate and overall pregnancy rate. Hence, polyherbal mixture supplementation can play a significant role in improving postpartum reproductive performance of Sahiwal cows. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
