The main text of the I Etymologiae i , reproduced in the edition, is based upon the critical text of Lindsay's 1911 edition (now in the public domain) but has been checked against Spevak's 2020 edition. The Glosses to the First Book of the Etymologiae of Isidore of Seville: A Digital Scholarly Edition ed. by Evina Steinová (review) The careful attention to producing a semantically encoded text has resulted in unambiguous data that far surpass the ambiguous data found in a merely visually encoded edition (such as those cases when data are stored and confined to a printed text).
