Power transformers are a vital component in the electricity distribution system, not all power transformers are equipped with an air insulation cable box according to customer requests, on each air insulation cable box pressure relief venting must be installed with the aim that in case of an electric arc it will not cause broken damage to the cable box, bushing, the possibility of a transformer oil spill and a greater fire. The purpose of this study is to analyze the calculation of the plates used for pressure relief venting, by performing simulations and tests to verify from the analysis of calculations made manually is 281.25 MPa and by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with the results spanning the maximum burst pressure is 260.4 MPa. The results of research carried out on the pressure relief venting plate using aluminum Grade AA1100 with a thickness of 2 mm which has an Ultimate Tensile Strength of 123.6 MPa based on the supplier certificate tested on a box measuring 0.5 m×0.5 m then a pressure of 0.5 bar is expected to break. Based on this research and experiment, the aluminum plate for pressure relief venting is broken at a pressure of 0.5 bar with a groove given to the plate before the maximum burst pressure is reached. In other words, the air insulation cable box is safe from explosion and damage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
