Objective: To establish the demographic and clinical spectrum of patients who underwent LASIK for myopia. Materials and Method: This study involved a descriptive component wherein records of patients who had undergone LASIK between year 2015 and September 2018 were analysed. Pre-operative patient demographic and clinical characteristics were summarized. Patients undergoing LASIK after September 2018 were prospectively recruited; pre-operative patient demographic and clinical characteristics were noted. Results: A total of 406 patients who underwent LASIK surgery had a mean age of 27.66 ± 6.37 years. 218 (53.69 %) were females and 196 (48.27%) hailed from district Srinagar. 231 (56.89%) were comprised of students. The mean preoperative spherical and cylindrical refractions were -4.22 ± 2.52D and -0.36 ± 0.53D respectively. Mean preoperative pachymetry (CCT) was 507.87 ± 28.84 pm. Conclusion: Our study showed that majority of patients were young, female, comprised mostly of students and nearly half of them hailing from district Srinagar. Further, majority of our patients had low-to-moderate myopia with lower degrees of astigmatism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
