To evaluate the cooling performance of different cooling vests scientifically and effectively, a dry thermal manikin with constant power in a simulated hot environment ( temperature 34 °C, relative humidity 50%) was utilized to evaluate cooling performance of three cooling vests (evaporation, phase-change and gel) by measuring chest, shoulder, abdomen, back, and torso skin temperatures. Results show that the three cooling vests have different cooling performance, evaporative cooling vest has lightest weight, moderate cooling rate, optimum comfort performance, and the effective cooling time is 102 min; phase change cooling vest is hard and heavy, has poor clothing fit and dynamic comfort, but has the longest cooling time of 134 min; gel cooling vest is heaviest, the cooling rate of back is high, and the lowest temperature can reach 29.4 °C, there exists sudden cooling and supercooling, but has the longest cooling time of 96 min.
