Williams distinguishes between the superficial use of "Fuck It" that does not generate true change but merely reverses the power dynamics of powerful and helpless, and his radical "Fuck It" that rejects underlying relational terms "that use power, manipulation, terror and control of another, culminating in insanity" (p. 75). Williams's explanation of why such interventions are ineffective is that the psychotic self is not restricted to the confines of ordinary reality and can therefore invent reality during any altercations with the therapist. Throughout this book's 10 chapters, Williams immerses the reader in the experience of living within a tormented, confused, and even destroyed internal world. [Extracted from the article] |
