Pete told me the same thing: Gray feared that the car would end up restored and/ or in some vast collection, only to be driven occasionally to events. We're not rich folks, so when Pete reminded Gray that my dad was deeply invested in building his own version, Gray told him to, "sell that piece of sh*t and buy the real thing." It's like the hot rod version of the Rock of Gibraltar, so, when my dad started building his own roadster, he used Gray's as his muse.
