The article discusses that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia has been bankrolled by massive exports of Russian oil and gas, revenues from which made up nearly half of the UK's federal budget. The fossil fuels funding Russian President Vladimir Putin's war machine is worsening the climate crisis. The crises affecting progress on clean, green energy led to the conclusion that the UK needs to cut its carbon emissions down to near zero in the next few decades, prompted by fossil fuel interests. |
