Abstrakt: The study dealt with the Iranian support for the Kurds of Iraq after the Shah's visit to Washington in July 1973 and discussing the Soviet intervention in Iraq. The Shah decided to increase the support represented by a set of weapons and economic aid although this aid did not meet the Kurdish need, as the Shah did not want the emergence of a Kurdish state on the borders of his country since this will push Iran's Kurds to become independent as well. In June 1974 the attack on the Kurds intensified, and the Kurds became in need of weapons. Despite the provision of weapons, Iran did not increase aid, and the war almost broke out between Iraq and Iran at the end of 1974, so all parties saw the need to stop that support, and otherwise the region will be in a general war, so it was decided to reach an agreement between Iraq and Iran in March 1975 through the mediation of the Algerians and the Egyptians. The Kurds were its victim, as Iran took gains from Iraq and in return abandoned the Kurds, whose movement was quickly suppressed and they fled outside Iraq. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
