With one notable exception that I'll come on to shortly, the programming language is mostly immaterial, and learning languages should come later. "There's no single "best" language to learn. I mentioned earlier that one programming language is a bit different, and the particular language I was thinking about was SQL. In general, though, you'll have either SQL statements (or whole procedures) embedded within the code that's written in a different language, and these SQL statements are used to exchange data between your code and the database server.
