This is the first report of I Alternaria malorum i as a causal agent of cowpea leaf spot disease in Iran and globally. Several diseases are known to infect cowpea, including anthracnose, I Cercospora i leaf spot, damping off, I Fusarium i wilt, I Sclerotium i stem, root and crown rot, I Septoria i leaf spot, and scab (Dugje et al., 2009).
