Predictor-corrector mode for symmetric multistep methods for the numerical modeling of satellite motion.

Abstrakt: In this paper, the stability properties of the predictor-corrector mode are investigated in the case when both the predictor and the corrector are symmetric linear multistep methods of the same order. The stability polynomial of the mode is obtained. Conditions are given under which the stability polynomial has at least one root on the unit circle, which makes it possible to develop a constructive algorithm for determining the stability interval of the mode. The stability of the predictor-corrector mode is investigated for a large class of symmetric methods. We compare accuracy and computational costs of the symmetric methods and the Everhart integrator.
