A radar system transmits radio waves and interprets the returned signal to perform a specific function. Radio waves traveling between the radar and an unknown target are affected by refraction as they travel through the atmosphere, which increases the possibility of errors in the interpretation of the results when the radar is operating. If it is possible to predict the extent to which radio waves are affected by refraction, this capability can be applied to radar operation to direct radio waves to an area where an unknown target is likely to be operating. In this study, a method for correcting the elevation angle of the antenna was investigated by analyzing a case in which the radio wave propagates along the elevation angle and a case in which it is refracted. It was confirmed that the main beam of the antenna can be set toward the target area by applying the correction method to four arbitrary positions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
