Can quality of life predict survival and value-based care in lower extremity arterial disease? Quality of life (QOL) is a key patient-reported outcome (PRO) in lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) studies for either claudication or chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). These studies found QOL predicted long-term survival,4 progression to invasive treatment,3 clinical improvement,5,6 and amputation.7 However, none of the QOL instruments used (SF-36,3,5,6 EQ-5D,4,6 ICQ5 and VascuQoL6,7) were developed for predictive purposes.
