The recognized complications of ileostomy may be divided into early and late and vary as to whether the ileostomy is a loop or end type. A 40-year-old woman, with a history of Crohn's disease, had an ileal resection for an acute small bowel obstruction with a double rifle-barrel ileostomy in the right iliaca fossa 2 years prior.
