Estuary health indicators sit alongside metrics for air, groundwater, lakes and rivers, supporting a more integrated view of estuary health. Another milestone in estuary management is the development of an estuary health module on the Land Air Water Aotearoa (LAWA) website.[4] The inability to measure estuarine ecological health in a standardised manner has been a major impediment to estuarine management in Aotearoa.
