Abstrakt: Rapidly solidified ribbons based on eutectic alloy Al-Cu-Mg with the addition of minority alloying elements Zn and Zr were produced and their microstructure and crystallization behavior were studied. XRD and TEM analyzes showed that the AlCuMg ribbon is 98% amorphous, Zr-containing ribbon AlCuMg(Zr) is completely amorphous, and Zn addition reduces the degree of amorphousness of AlCuMg(Zn) to 71%. The microstructure of AlCuMg and AlCuMg(Zn) ribbons were composed of an amorphous matrix in which several types of intermetallic phases in the form of nanocrystals up to 100 nm in size were distributed. The glass transition temperature Tg, crystallization onset temperature Tx, onset temperature (solidus) Ts and offset temperature (liquidus) Tl were determined by DSC analyses. The reduced glass transition temperature Trg, the temperature difference ΔTx and Hruby criterion KH were calculated. The results are discussed through the theory of packing efficiency of clusters in amorphous alloys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
